"Leaves its audience gasping for breath between guffaws as its relentlessly funny skits whip past us..."
-- Village Voice
spurn was originally formed by Ian Hemenway, Sang Kim & Neil Trivedi in 2001. Since then, we've amassed a cultish following and a cast who blindly throw themselves into the most questionable of onstage situations, bless their black little hearts. Our live shows have been presented to sold-out crowds at such famous New York venues as the Peoples Improv Theater, 13th Street Repertory, Collective: Unconsciousand Gotham Comedy Club, and opened the 2004 NY International Fringe Festival to standing ovations.
NY Theater Experience writes that spurn maintains a “hard-edged, envelope-pushing, vaguely absurdist sensibility” that “tests our basest assumptions about the world instead of merely playing into them.” TimeOut NY simply says spurn is “Disgusting, horrifying, amusing” and the Village Voice proclaims that spurn “leaves its audience gasping for breath between guffaws as its relentlessly funny skits whip past”.
